Minnesota Vikings Welcome Brett Favre

Welcome to the Minnesota Vikings, Brett Favre, and I think this will be his first season with one of football's most prolific NFL teams ever assembled.

Now is the time for Favre to throw his new purple-and-gold Vikings helmet into the ring of NFL glory as he begins the ex-Green Bay Packer's debut as quarterback of the longest-running professional football teams in the Upper Midwest. Last Friday, KSTP Television, the Hubbard Broadcasting-owned free-to-air commercial TV home of, for, and to ABC's top-rated primetime hit comedies and dramas since 1979, broadcast the Vikings' latest championship football tournament - and, with play-by-play coverage of the team's first season with Favre as their new quarterback in the post-Fran Tarkington era, I dare all the Vikes to score big in the gridiron.

Favre played with the Green Bay Packers for 17 seasons until 2007, while he was succeeded by Aaron Rogers.

A Louisiana native, Favre has been the Packers' most valuable player in the NFL and the male human embodiment of all professional football quarterbacks engaged in the most winningest spectator sport in history. He defeated every other NFL team in recent memory, having won his final season with the Packers in 2007 by scoring fewer punts than any other quartback in the history of the NFL.

For the Vikings, who have lost several quarterbacks through the years, including Tarkington, the biggest win for Favre will be a fighting challenge for his new teammates to come up with several exhibition tournaments in
the coming months. (Sorry, Ben Roethlisberger.)

Says Favre: "Throw the football at the Minnesota Vikings and win victory as I look forward to playing with all of my fellow teammates during my very first season with them."

What makes Favre punt, run and score with the Vikes? And how many points will he score just by throwing a football with his right hand and running by daylight in the gridiron?

"Favre is becoming the next Viking to enter the gridiron," says WCCO-AM sportscaster Mike Max. "I dare Brett to trade in his green-and-gold Green Bay Packers jersey for the Vikings' new purple-and-gold uniform
when he makes his debut as the team's newest quarterback."

I am convinced Brett Favre will be one of the highest-paid pro football teammates in history and will begin his transition from the New York Giants to the Vikings shortly.

Favre also points out how successful a quartback can be just by kick a football - not kicking the tires - when
he comes to the Metrodome in downtown Minneapolis for the first time.
